Otg,
You should read through the thread that notlob linked. It's much more informative than the seller's description, which doesn't even mention how it works (truly unique in vintage tool world history).
As for the price, you know as well as I that value is a fickle thing (and, at times, can be the same thing as whatever someone is willing to pay), but in general, it's a function of rarity and desirability in an "informed market" (i.e., where the seller and buyers are equally informed about the tool). In this case he has the first. I've only seen four (now five) of these wrenches, anywhere, and I have two of those. The others were in large private collections that were sold at famous annual vintage tool auctions (traditional public auctions, not eBay) advertised on the internet. I've
never seen another complete set other than mine. And that's pretty much the WorthPoint search results summary, too. Personally, I derive a great sense of pride in being one of the
only ones with an
Onli-1, but even I would have to admit that I'm not sure he has $250 worth of desirability. It sounds counter-intuitive, but the tool-set may be too obscure to command that price. I'll be watching it though, EDIT: and hoping I'm wrong.
