Open cell foam question

With open cell foam, does it dry quickly if moisture gets introduced through a leak or condensation? Or does it hold moisture like a sponge and cause issues with wood?

I thought it would allow for drying but now I’m second guessing myself. I get that water would sit on closed cell like a puddle until it evaporates.

I’m thinking of applying to a wood structure.

Open cell IS A SPONGE ! You answered your own question !

A sponge will dry quicker than closed cell hiding the water up against the wood/OSB. The sponge will also drip once it gets wet enough, indicating that you have a leak. Closed cell can hide a leak until it has caused enough damage to show from the outside.

Open and closed cell foams are good in the right circumstances. I opted to spray the underside of my new house roof decking with open cell foam so I'll see the dripping on my drywall ceiling if/when I have a roof leak and be able to repair it hopefully before I have to replace a sheet of OSB.
