Open vs lensed fixtures

I am looking at LED linear fixtures and think I want lenses to better distribute the light and less glare (these would be high bay 15-25000 lumen fixures up about 14 feet.)

Someone mentioned these things getting dirty, filled up with bugs and recommended un-lensed fixtures. We do have a decent amount of little bugs that are attracted to light - they could definitely be a problem on those summer nights if the doors are open and they can get inside the lights.

So does anyone have experience with these new LED fixtures (for example the DIVA DV-HB26LMV50K or Lithonia IBH series) - are they well sealed against bugs and dirt getting inside the lenses ? My experience with older fluorescent tube style fixtures says that they were not well sealed.

Thanks, that is not a bad idea, but I will try to see how many of those would be required.

I am hoping someone has some experience with the normal enclosed led fixtures and how much maintainance they might need to stay clean in a garage environment.

I installed some at a neighbors shop. About 16ft up and he wanted acrylics. I suggested open but he was paying so he got what he wanted. They look good but within 2 weeks you could see the bugs inside the fixtures from the floor. It's only going to get worse.

I had covered fluorescent fixtures in the last garage and it was a never ending job to clean dead bugs out of the fixtures. They looked nice when clean though. From now on it's open fixtures for me, function over form.

Thanks, did you think the acrylic did much for the glare ?
