I opened an old tool box that I had tucked away in the garage from my old days at Ford, and found a few air tools from one of the major re-toolings that one of my assembly plants went through. At the time I was a superintendent of the trim / final assembly area and these were some of the tools that were being replaced and being scrapped. These were all production grade, reversible, and many with torque settings. There are a few Stanley's, a few Rotor Tool's, a few IR's, a Rockwell, and a DeVilbiss spray gun. There a few 1/4 drive, a few 3/8 and a few quick connect chucks. Most of them weigh a bit too much for your everyday gun, but most were mounted on balancers so weight was not an issue. Not sure what their value would be if I had to replace them. They prob will need a once over, as the last time they ran was mid 90's.

I seem to recall my dentist using something like one of those on me ...

I was looking at some production line assembly tools today, and its weird the some other world level of quality some of them have, as well as the limited application.

The one IR straight gun might not be used too often as it is activated when pressure is put on the bit. This tool was used on the IP line for installing gages.

I can't even imagine what the replacement cost of tools like that would be. Given their limited, specific application, and low production volume --sheesh!!!
