Can anyone recommend a good opener for a 16ft door? Are we talking regular home depot openers for this task or does it take some kind of heavy duty opener?

I like the Craftsman belt drives (they're quiet). What is everyone using?

Any 1/2hp opener will work fine on a 16 or 18 foot door as long as you first get the door balanced up properly with spring adjustments.

Any good half horse power unit will do, martins are a private labeled unit. They are built by a company called Marantec, I very good unit and very quite more quite then the LM belt drives.

I also have the liftmaster 1/2hp. Works fine, but I sure wish I would have done the "close to ceiling" thing with taller tracks. My lifter hangs nearly 18" from the ceiling.
