I recently gave up my "big" garage for rental, so I no longer have my work space, I have another garage but its for car storage, so I turned to my attached 2 car for a work space.

Problem 1 was it was full of stuff, like most garages get after 5-6 years, seemed like every time I had something with no where to put it I threw it in the garage.

So I had a 14x24 shed delivered, but of course had to cut a bunch of trees level the land, etc etc etc, well finally that is in and I started emptying the garage, which is about done, only things I have to move are a gun safe and few odds and ends...

Second issue was a lift, I called the gentleman I buy my lifts from and with in 48 hours my lift was installed {Forward clear floor 10K# asymetric 2 post}.

So now I started wiring, I brought a 50a sub panel out to the garage I wired 2 30a outlets for my 211 welder, 20-220 fo my lift, 30 for the compressor, and a couple 15's for extra lights and lights in the shed. I ran 1" conduit across the ceiling and split to 3/4 at the lift, then ran across the lift and down the wall to the shed termination...

I trenched from the garage to the shed, I buried the wire to run a light and the compressor to the shed. I didn't want a compressor in my house, so it saved the noise and the room having it out there. I also direct buried a rapidair 3/4" line, it wasn't bad to work with, its seems to be strong, the fittings are well made and sealed well with no fuss, and it looks good, time will be the real test but, it works for $175 I have a ton of it and fittings left.

I Installed a light in the shed and a couple home depot lights in the garage over the lift, there was already a light in the garage right over the lift {just a single screw}, and I was going to pull it down, put a single hole cover on it and hard wire the new lights in, instead I got lazy and screwed in a bbulb to plug adapter and plugged the 2 lights into it {I know, I ****}, they are pretty bright and wrok good though...

I also installed a high lift garage door conversion and 8500 opener from ddm {total cost for conversion was around $500 because I had the hanging springs to start with, with a torsion spring the cost would be much less}.
My ceiling is over 12 ft in there so I went as high as I could with the door, its about 7"s off of the ceiling, the opener and door work great...

So thats about it, the shed is about full, the garage is almost empty, all I want in there is my 2 tool boxes, welding table, welder, motorcycle lift, car lift, dart board, and the one rack for oils and parts...

Next is going to be to finish in the single window in there {I don't know why I havent done it yet, I just need some molding and 1x5 to trim it off}, and maybe in the future I am going to tile the floor...

heres some pics...

So thats it a few more odds and ends, run a wire to the 8500 {its on an ext cord right now}, maybe another light for over my welding table, clean up a bit, and some day tile the floor. I already did rear brakes in my wrangler, changed the oil in 3 vehicles, and changed a battery, starter, and power cable in my 57 chevy {lagging startup, started with the old battery that just passed testing, then noticed the wire was soft, then it started better but still wasn't great so changed the starter, now she spins good}...

enjoy the picks, and I am open to any ideas...

That is an AMAZING amount of clearance! I could get my Excursion on that lift with a full 6' to walk underneath! I'm VERY jealous! :)

Well I was just out there cleaning up a bit and getting ready to pull my eep back on the lift {time for summer tires}...

I went to re mount the central vac that i have had off the wall while I was wiring stuff behind it, and when I picked it up 2 mieces ran out, I will admit I jumped a bit, it was unexpected, I built this house 7 years ago and NeVER seen one mouse...

So I put it out side and shook it another one ran out, I am pissed its a $300 c-vac and now full of mice...

So I pull the top off with some torx screws, and they were starting a nest ontop of the motor, they only stripped 1 wire just a bit, so I taped it up, I cleaned it with vinegar, the motor, and circuit board, and switch pulled right out with no screws, it all just sits in there, so I pulled it all out, washed it all, lubed the motor, cleaned the housing and put it all back together. I hung it back up and plugged it in, it runs fine and doesn't smell, I think they were only in there about a week, since I left the door open for an afternoon, we are deepish country so there are field mice outside, I just don't want them inside...

They were making a nest out of the instructions to an oil pump I bought about 1 week ago so I figure that is when they moved in...

I am evicting MANY spiders, and now these mice, garage is no longer storage and insect home, it is now for auto service, lol...

Anyone have some mice remedies, I know how to make an awesome trap with a 5ga bucket, 3/8 dowel, ramp, and coffee can...

Place looks great! Did you direct bury the rapid air lines? I really want to put the compressor in my shed as well.

Edit- Saw that you said direct bury. Any concerns about punctures? How deep did you go?

I have about 12" of cover over the line, once you feel this stuff in your hands you wont worry about punctures.. I trenched it, put a sand bed, then the pipe, plumbed it all in and got it all set up, then covered it with the rest of the sand I had, then back filled it with deboned dirt that came out. I don't see how it would get punctured...

You could run it in conduit but for the 3/4" I think you would need at least 2" conduit to run it, its cheap, and I was going to do that, but then figured it was more work than it was worth...

I will tell you I am sold on rapidair products, price is right and its a good product. I am a master pipefitter and I don't see anything wrong with it or the fittings they give you... I only used about 30ft of my kit, so I can do it 3 more times, lol, I used clean fill and sand so I can retrench that and replace it in a few hours if I take my time. If it lasts 5 years I will be happy but I dont see why it wont last 30...

I have usually used peanut butter on those 5 gal traps but have recently tried bacon grease with great results.:)

We don't cook bacon too often but next time I will give it a try, I only worry that I will end up in the trap... :)
