Opinion on Actron Auto Analyzer??

I was at sears today exchanging a screwdriver and I bought this thing on a whim. It was on clearance for $20 (regular $30). Does anyone have one of these? Is it useful or should I return it before I open it?

By the way, I don't have any other muiltimeter or anything like it.

Ok, so I guess you're saying that I bought an over priced multimeter. If I already had a mulitmeter than I would return it in a heartbeat, but since I don't I'll have to weigh my time versus the $8 I'd save if I wait it out. Hmm....

Personally, I prefer auto-ranging meters, but they sometimes go nutso when dealing with an unstable signal. I say enjoy your purchase and use it until you break it or want/need to upgrade.

It's a good all purpose multimeter ... if that was what you were looking for; Actron makes pretty decent OBDII scanners/readers ... I have two of them ..

It is a good basic meter, it will do most things a non professional will need and you did not break the bank.

It looks cheap, but if you are not into electrical troubleshooting on a regular basis, it should be OK.
DMM for my shop is Fluke 88 but it gets used often and has made me plenty of $s over the past 6 years.

I've used meters for over 30 yrs. in my elrct cont. buss. I bought the actron CP7677 meter to check dwell on my old corvette, and I like it so much, I think I'll through it in my van and use it as a VOM for my buss. Yea, I think its a nice meter.

It is a digital multimeter. I have used many types of multimeters and I have found that some have more functions than others, but for the most part they all seemed to display the same reading regardless of price.

Actron is owned by SPX, the same company as OTC (professional scanners etc). I've got to believe some of the technology and design from the industrial side makes it into the consumer (actron) products. I would reccomend buying actron over another consumer type scanner/reader/meter.
