ir would be at the top, and aircat slowly behind. it really depends on your budget i bought the aircat because i was on a smaller budget

See that's where I'm at right now. the IR is a better gun than the others (Sunex is the only one i don't know durability on yet) and the Aircat is cheaper so i'm not sure there.

Reasons:

-Most power
-Excellent price
-Quiet
-Did I mention its absurd amount of power?
-It'll make everyone jealous (power vs. price)

IR no-brainer. Although no option for Snap-on ;)

Not sure if Aircat rate is true rating.

99% of my air tools are CP (made in Japan) and they are very nice tools ,but after hearing of so many from the GJ talking about IR air tools I bought a few and they are very nice ; I also think that parts would be easy to get if they broke down.

Ok... I'm tossing between three impact wrenches.

the Ingersoll Rand 2135 QTiMax

http://www.automotivetoolsonline.co...35QTIMAX-12-Quiet-Impact-Wrench_p_11172.html#

The aircat Nitrocat 1200K

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002Q8A98M/?tag=atomicindus08-20

The Sunex 4345

http://www.mechanicstoolsupply.com/...atID_E_13_A_subCatID_E_106_A_productID_E_6763

They are nearly identical in every way. The only thing I don't know about these are reliability and longevity.

I'm looking for opinions. go.

I too have been wondering about the sunex, everyone seems to shoot it down though. And aircat's durability has been questioned alot lately. Wish I had the budget for the IR.

The majority of the people questioning AirCat's durability probably haven't even owned one. Either that or they're strung out on IR or Snap On KoolAid and cannot think clearly.

IR and I agree on the parts easy to get for an IR.Only thing I have done to my IRs are change the anvils at least every two years.I have rebuilt a couple IRs,simple to do with a couple tools needed.Only tools needed are a T15 or T20 torx bit on a nut driver, pair of small snap ring pliers and a couple 3/16'' slotted scredrivers. The anvils wear out even with impact attachments and sockets are used.I get IR parts from my Matco tool dealer. The parts explosion show the anvils for an IR2112 and IR2115TI are differant part numbers, the anvils are the same.Even Cornwell tool dealers can get IR parts.

In the case of IR, is it really Kool-Aid to rely on a company that has been producing air tools for 100+ years and who produced the first impact wrench 70+ years ago? Then there's the twin hammer that was perfected in the early 70's by IR that's now being used by almost every manufacturer. And don't forget the 2131 in the early 90's that was the first commercially successful composite impact. Then there's the 2135Ti, the first true 1/2" impact under 4 lbs, the use of titanium, etc

I personally use a ir, and don't think I'll buy anything else. As for the cats, I know guys that use them, and love them for the price. That said I have also seen a couple break down. The difference was that if a ir breaks, almost all tool trucks carry parts for them. Though I have seen few ir's break over the years.

You just drove IR's stock up about $.80!!!

In my experience the QTiMax is not much quieter than any other similar impact. If you are using it under a car or inside a wheel well or under the hood as I seem to be all the time I dont think any impact is quieter than another. It is lighter though so this would be my choice.

I've decided to buy a used TiMAX or MG725 off of ebay.

Even used MG725's go for a song on eBay, I looked for several months. I wanted a "close to new" one and couldn't touch 'em for under $300 +/- a few bucks. I realize the gun retails for $420 but I would generally think 50% of retail is an appropriate price, but I guess not. I owned a 2135qtimax and was incredibly unimpressed with it's lack of power, so much so that I bought a 2135timax from Sears and was also equally unimpressed. I have an Aircat 1100K coming to me from ToolTopia, we'll see how that does.

I watched the bid on this tonight, I wanted to bid so bad, but I can't buy anymore tools right now. It's little ruff, but I think it would have been a decent deal.

Is your air compressor up to par? The 2135timax I've used at work was a hoss.

I got my nearly NIB- MG725 for $240, shipped, off of eBay. I bought a FAR72C that was used, but not much, for $60 some-odd dollars, shipped. You just have to lurk on there and wait for people to snooze. You have to lurk, every night, for a long, long time!

Yeah it's fine, we've hashed it out here before. Others report good things but I wasn't impressed. Too bad too, I really wanted it.

$240 is damn good, congrats. I would've bought one for that.

I doubt the AirCat will disappoint ya.

Epic fail.

Why? Cause I like quality but don't like the price tag that comes attached to snapon tools? I'm a first year mechanic. Those amazingly awesome tools will come later when i'm making a decent paycheck. Now? I have to get by with what I can. So ya. I know how much better snapon tools are. doesn't mean you have to start out with that quality of tools.

i have an aircat 1100-k that i also got form tool topia and has alot more torque than a standard ir2135 we have at the shop. I have tightened down 1 1/8" nuts and bolts with it on our grain/silage hauling trucks to keep the end gates shut for hauling grain.
