Opinion on Porter Cable compressor?

Well after reading all kinds of info here and doing a search I'm leaning towards a 60 gal 230V compressor.

Does anyone see any issues with this particular compressor:

I'm planning on using it for the usual impact guns, air ratchets, ocassional air sanding and to power my table bike lift. Mainly to work on my wifes Jeep and other vehicle related stuff.

Is this compressor way overkill for what I've described above?

Any opinions are welcome.

looks like pretty average and home depot and lowes brand may have similar specs for cheaper, this is the current porter cable offering and it's made by devilbiss, their old ones with the aluminum pumps are also by devilbiss, you can find some clones of the PC compresssors as at sears under the craftsman brand as well.

Yup... I have a Craftsman Pro oil lubed compressor (i don't have 220vac in my garage) and have been very happy with it. That, and i know that parts and service is available for it should I need them. the only problem is taht I will have to deal with Sears....

Not interested in the dual stage? The 2stage PC 80 gal. compressor seems to be the best value around here... ~16 CFM for ~$789 on sale @ Fleet Farm.

I would love to have a 2 stage, but around here they're almost 2x the price of the single stage units. Besides that, I'm in Canada so there's shipping & border isuues to deal with.

Porter Cable and DeVilbiss are BOTH owned by Black & Decker.

I have this compressor:

And I really like it. The one you linked to seems to have a similar setup and a similar pump. i also bought the two-year warranty on mine. It has been great. I would buy another one...

As an aside:
The only problem is taht you have to deal with Sears. When I bought mine, I was helped by quite possibly one of the best managers ever. It was at the Ann Arbor, MI store (Briarwood mall)... I wish I would have gotten that guy;s name. He has a younger guy and definitely knew what customer service was....

Looks like a great compressor for the tasks you outlined. Where are you planning to purchase the compressor? Princess Auto in Winnipeg has it for $649CAD. I would check and see if it is on sale or due to go on sale. As you may or may not know, you almost never have to pay the regular price for anything at PA.

Yeah I was looking at getting it from PA. But the Porter Cable and the Craftsman are the same price, so I'm just weighing my options.

I love PA! Take stuff back 18 months later, even without the bill and they'll take it back. I can never go in there without buying something.

They may be the same compressor. If they are I would get it from PA. They stand behind their products like no one I have ever seen. My neighbor bought a 5hp Eagle compressor from them for his wheel polishing business.The motor failed after one year and they delivered a new one to his door on a Sunday because he was in the middle of a job. Sears wouldn't do that.

There's you answer. If the price and product are similar, go with the store that will give you the best customer service.

Check out the Dewalt Factory Outlet on St. James Street, Winnipeg. They should have the identical Porter Cable compressor for $532 . It will be a factory reconditioned unit, but usually it is brand new and just had a minor problem and was repaired by the manufacturer.

The Dewalt outlet in Halifax has the compressor and the rep said that all the stores across Canada have access to the same stock out of Toronto.
