Hello,

I would like to add 2 U shaped track lighting runs into my barn. The outer U will be about 32ft long, by 40ft across then 32ft back. (104ft total) The inner U will be the same 32ft long by about 12ft across. (76ft total). I would like about 10 - 20 LED spot type fixtures on each U. Both U's will turn on with the same switch.

Any suggestions for brands / where to buy? I would like quality stuff that will have relatively universal acceptance of lighting heads.

Thanks for your input!
-Joe

I wouldn't let budget get in the way of a nice setup. Nothing absurd, just nice quality stuff

It will light up the fronts and back of my cars and a few pictures on the wall.

You've got some decisions to make. Read up on "beam angle" so that you know the size of the beam coming from the track head and how much area it will cover. Words like "spot light" dont mean anything.
There are two main types of track- Juno and Halo. Of the two Juno is slightly more common. You'll have to choose one so that you know that your heads will fit, although alot of manufacturers make adapters.
You'll have lots of styles of track heads to choose from. Start narrowing down the style that you like before you jump in. You'll have lots of choices on the quantity of light (lumens) that the track heads provide. Do you want heads with an integrated LED source, or do you want to put your own lamp in? I prefer integrated. Also, you'll have to choose between black and white track and fixtures.
Sounds like a fun project!

CD,

Thanks for the tip! I took a look at the Liteline site and they have some fancy stuff. They did not have any retailers nearby, and I don't really need super high style. I would like quality - any of the more commonly available stuff worth looking at?

Quality lighting stuff is sold thru electrical supply stores. That's where I'd go. You can call liteline and ask for a local reference. Or call Crites-Tidy Associates 616-647-2400 and ask them for prices. There are many other similar outfits. You wont find anything of decent quality at any of the big box stores or "retailers". Just cheap junk.
You can try a chandelier shop near you, but they'll probably rob you.
Looks like you've almost got a museum there! Good quality lighting will really enhance it!

Thanks for the tip. I ordered the WAC stuff.

Total for WAC was $1850
Total had I done it with Lithonia from Lowes was $1350

I figured it was worth $500 for higher quality stuff.

Thanks!!!
