Hello, thanks for the great site, great information here. I have a quick question that perhaps someone here may want to help out with. I am in the process of planning out a large carport. The cover will be attached to the garage on the high side and will have around 3/8" per foot of slope . The projection is 22'. I plan to place the supporting members on 5' centers with 2 posts located at 10' and 20' on either end. My question is what size purlin is recommended for 30' of span? Also, do you guys think it possible to clear span 40' with traditional "c" purlins? This is a preliminary plan and additional posts and/or beams could be added if required. Thanks in advance.
