I am planning on having a liner panel ceiling on my shop and also plan on having the the panel on the top 4 ft of my 12 ft walls. The bottom8 ft will be plywood. The liner panels are 29 gauge.D28CBDBF-FD5C-4672-B277-BA48D8BDB4C2.jpeg

My studs are 2 by 6“ and 16“ on center. The question is this- Do I need to have a another cross brace 2 ft down from the ceiling to have a location for a screw or do you think screwing a fastner at the top and bottom of the 4 ft panel and another fastener in the middle of the panel on the studs that are 16“ apart will be sufficient? The panels are 36” wide and over the span of the wall I will have several locations there the end of the panels will overlap in the middle of the stud.

Obviously I don’t want to have to add another cross brace to the walls if its not really necessary since I already have them at the 4 and 8 ft heights. Having to add another 2 by 6 cross brace at the 10 ft level would entail extra work and would also require another break in the wall installation.

What do you think

Your additional blocking @ 4' could be a 2x4 on its side and not interrupt the insulation. (If I'm following this correctly)
One thing about visable surface fastening, a consistent pattern becomes just part of the wall and nothing "catches" you eye. Screwing @ the available 16" framing will appear almost random and may in some locations be in the ribs. From the looks of your job (very nice) I have a feeling that it will bother you.

You might be able to screw the ”liner” to the back of the ply. And/or put a 1x2 (or 2x4) at the seam (just on top of the ply) to cover it and provide a nice attachment point at a good height.

and nice build

If the panels are running horizontal on the walls you will be fine just run a j-mold along the bottom edge. If the panels are running vertical I think you will need a block installed.
