Opinions of set up

Just built (first one)this work shop for my 2 hobby cars. I'm installing some cabinets i bought on the back wall were my bench will go below. I'm thinking of putting a 42" monitor for internet/TV to the left of the window up on the wall or in between the cabinets you see ....the cabinet to the right is not mounted yet...just held up by the car jack for reference. Would you go right across with the cabinets (have 2 more) and put the work bench underneath or put the bench with the current set up with no cabinets above and put the monitor there? I could install the other 2 cabinets somewhere else?? Bench will be about 36" high by 30" deep giving me 20" between top of bench and bottom of cabinet.

Disadvantage of putting it between the cabinets is that you won't be able to see the entire screen from an angle because the cabinets will be blocking it. Unless if you mount so that the front of the TV is flush with the cabinets, but then it will be harder to look at when searching the internet (depending on how deep your work bench will be). I have my TV (19") mounted next to my window and that makes it hard to see with the sun and reflections from outside coming in.

What work do you plan to do with/at the workbench? I wouldn't have a tv above my workbench because it would be a worry when grinding/cutting/welding at the bench.

you can put a screen cover on it, have a clearbar guy help out with it.

i would put it on an articulating wall mount so you can swing it out to watch from any angle.

I don't like mine above the workbench because my neck hurts looking up at it. It is fine from anywhere else in the garage but when I am doing something on the bench it isn't all that great. I think I will eventually move mine up in one of the corners which will make it easier to see from everywhere, including the workbench.

I'd go up high in the corner with your TV - on a mounting bracket.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts! I think from your opinions i'll put it on a articulating arm high in the corner near the window. I'll put a shade on the window if there is any light problems...but all in all the garage is pretty dark.

SO...i take it i should continue the cabinets across the wall and put the bench below.

Now i just need to design my bench

MY flat screen has a mounting bracket (from Sears) that mounts on the wall. You can pull it out from the wall about a foot and it swivels to any part of the room. If you check, Walmarts may have them also.
