just looking to see if this considered a avg size? i saw some smaller and larger ones being built on the site just looking to see if anyone else had done a 40x80 and had any ideas on what were some of the things you would change if you could have done it differently?

I have a 40 X 60 if I ever did it again I would at least do 50' wide to be able to get another project across the width. I have two 4 post lifts , one in the center & one on Right side which I use to double stack my Mustangs, I use an open area on left for projects, if it was 50' foot wide could have another project bay. The rest of the garage is used for parking and it is full, so the extra length would be nice also.

I have 60X72X14.

60 wide makes it easy to move cars around inside.
14 is plenty tall enough for lift and break room on the mezzanine.
Wish I had gone 80 long, thought I did guess I need to pay more attention.

Build it as big as you can. My experience has been it will always be 5 foot too narrow and 10 foot to short.:eyecrazy: I have moved several truck shops and they were almost always to narrow. Or the bays were too close together so you are always working around tools and equipment.

i think my lot may only be big enough to use 40x80 and still be able to get around it? still need to do some more measuring considering moving the driveway to have more room

I've got a 40x80x14 with an interior wall dividing off a 40x16 section. The only thing I would have changed would have been to not give 16' to my wife for hay. :)

I have a 40x48, kind of wish i would have went at least 64' or even 80' long, just for extra cold storage. But when i win the lottery its getting a 100'x150' addition lol
