I like Mayhew myself. I haven't had to try to use the warranty. Their web site says they have a two year warranty on their Select tools and Lifetime on the Pro tools. It does exclude consumables but the warranty does not say punches are considered consumables with the exception of hollow punches on the Select warranty. Here is the link to the Pro warranty: http://mayhew.com/pro-warranty.php

When I worked for CAT I had Mayhew. Now retired I have Wilde. Both are quality chisels. Mayhew has a couple of levels to choose from. I think the Snap-on are the 150 series Mayhew rebranded. They are really a quality tool.

My snap on and Matco dealers both said lifetime on the punches so I was hoping the other brands were to

I vote either Mayhew or Wilde. My local TSC carries Mayhew punches, and they are reasonably priced. Menards carries Wilde as well.

Maybe we should ask why aren't they cutting it. If you need a bigger punch then the brand doesn't matter. Things like that are important to consider if you get a set. Maybe you need long reach ones to work on the larger equipment or another variety.

I wouldn't mind the HF set for at home but at work I'm just killing them and a really good lasting center punch would be cool also the HF one doesn't hold a point

I have a pretty mixed set, it includes: Old SK, Craftsman, Mac, and Meyhew.

If buying new I would go with Meyhew. Although the craftsman have been good, and they did warrantee a chisel that I managed to snap in two.

I have ones from Enderes, Wilde, Baltimore Tool Works, Dasco, C-man and a couple Bondhus. All have been fine.

The Dasco chisels bend and break with relative ease in my experience. They're USA made but softer than Wilde or Mayhew. I have recently purchased SK and Proto chisels and have been very happy with them. Just another thought.

Stay away from Dasco Pro. They are ****. I bought snap-on and haven't looked back. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate to get snappy again. If you just can't stomach the cost, Mayhew gets my vote. Wilde is a great brand too.

If you want lifetime warranty, you pretty much have to get a truck brand.

Anybody know who the OEM for Craftsman is?

I've got some of their older chromed square shank punches, and they're EXCELLENT. Look for these at flea markets!

I also have some newer red painted hex shank ones that are decent enough.

Currently the USA made ones are Western Forge and they work perfectly well for me. I'm not positive if the older one's are all WF, but I the one's I have are marked WF.

If not Snap On, I've also used Mayhew, Wilde, and Craftsman. I haven't had any problems with them. Punch and Chisels are about the only Craftsman I'll buy anymore if they're still U.S. made. Although my local Sears claimed that they no longer warranty the smaller punches and chisels anymore.

I've got Wilde, older Dasco Pro and some Mayhew. At work we use Snap On. Had good results from all of them.

Best bang-for-the-buck may be Wilde on sale from different sources. Menards has had some good sales on them during the last year.
