Wysong made a good shear. There are thousands of them floating around.
This one has the hold downs, which seem to turn up missing on some of them.
Price is a bit high- I've seen these go for $500 or less.

Interestingly, a new 52" foot shear from Grizzly sells for exactly the same price as the Wysong on CL ....

it is a nice shear, might be a tad expensive, might be just right depending on local prices...
Otherwise if you buy sheet metal by the sheet at a standard 4' wide then a 36-37" shear will only frustrate you. If you only get metal in that is 3' or less then it'd be a great shear. I have a 36" shear at work and use it a lot, but quite often wish it was 48-52" wide... 36" is still better than the 12 or 18" I have at home though, and better than nothing.

A 37" wide shear is not as popular as the 50"
For a 50" that would be a fair price but for the 37" I'm thinking about $400 assuming that all is in good shape, not bent or broken

shear is too narrow . You need a 50 inch shear for the 48 inch sheets unless you are having metal sheared into smaller sheets when you buy material.
