any opinions on this brand as i am having my HVAC system replaced and this is one of the brands i have a quote on TIA

opinions on comfortmaker heat pump system

It's a division of Carrier. Basically less bells and whistles.
Carrier -- like all the HVAC companies ... has various lines of equipment. Some of it is regional -- where a brand is well known and they acquire the brand ... other times it's to keep dealers happy.
The "Carrier" brand is the most expensive and is the top of the line .... Bryant is made by Carrier and for years was the brand all the oil dealers sold ... identical except for some minor modification to the outside condenser case and the thermostat ... you could always get all the best stuff Carrier made in the Bryant line.
The other names like Comfortmaker -- are so they can sell other lines w/o ******* off the Carrier dealers. Doing a quick look .... they don't sell the top of the line "Greenspeed" in the Comfortmaker line .. but they do sell the 5 speed variable unit that I have been putting in my builds recently ... the case covers in the comfortmaker are different and they change the look of the thermostat vs the "Carrier"
It looks like they sell the best furnace in the Comfortmaker line. It takes some doing to be a Carrier dealer ... less so to sell other lines. It also looks like they use Comfortmaker to sell the builder line ... not sold in the Carrier line
