Opinions on Craftsman Mechanic Gloves.

I've had a few pairs of them. I got the gloves with the rubber or impact guards on the knuckles and back. Comfortable, but do not hold up for a long time, just like the rest of the fake leather gloves. After a few weeks, the duct tape comes out and they get patched. But, before they get holes in them, they are nice.
Switched to a pair of Mechanix Fabricator gloves in all leather, definitely the way to go.

the newer HF gloves are really good, a little heavier than the4 mechanix gloves,
found out if you wash the gloves all the time they hold up great,

Pretty sure the CMan OEM is Mechanix, same stuff. With that said, the regular Cman mechanics ones that come in black or red are pretty crappy. The finger tips fall apart pretty easily.
But the CMan pro ones that are black and yellow with the gel padding have held up much better. They are the same as Mechanix Mpact's as far as i can tell (I have both), just different style.

My Mechanix gloves have worn really poorly. I've had great luck with Grease Monkey gloves I've bought from HD, plus they're half the price!!
Like above, the regular Craftsman red and black gloves aren't that great. The yellow and black professional mechanics and professional heavy duty both hold up pretty well, got about three months on each. The best I've used so far are from Instinct, their HDX series. Held up for six months, just ordered four more pair. They are 2 for $10 on their website right now (only have small and medium), as they're discontinuing them.

I had Craftsman red mechanic's gloves, hated them. The latex they put on the thumb and first finger for grip really annoyed me, it was very slippery then broke up and peeled off. My preferred gloves are regular Mechanix gloves.

The Professional gloves (Black and yellow) are the best from Craftsman. I use them exclusively at work. Typically get about six months out of a pair before they get cut up from spinning lug nuts and edges on brake components.
I try to buy them when they're on sale. Twenty bucks a pair is about my limit.

Well, I got these on a good deal, so hopefully he doesn't have them torn up fast. Yesterday when I was looking on the page it said they had the craftsman warranty. So i kind of wonder if they really will replace them if he uses them and they get torn from rough work. He doesn't do to much unless it is working on his truck or a project. So hopefully they last for a while.

Of the non-leather gloves, the Craftsman gloves are my favorite... especially since they go on sale a lot.

I used the Red/black Craftsman synthetic leather gloves with the rubber tipped fingers for about a week before the finger grips annoyed me to the point I threw them into the back drawer of my box.
Now use the plain ole' black Mechaix gloves for engine bay and clean type work. Switch over to full goatskin leather lightweight "baseball/golf" style gloves for undercarriage and heavier duty work and then switch to welder/leather field hand gloves for tire slinging and any work around sharp metal or pokie thingies.
I love the feel of the synthetic leather gloves, but they wear quite fast.
Before the multiple sets above , I was breaking out the sewing kit to sew up the nicks and holes in the fingertips about once or twice a month. Means to me wrong gloves for the job.
Do these ones ever go on sale for a good price? Can I find them on ebay? Thanks.
Yes they do seem to go on sale alot. The ones I got were on sale and plus I got a extra 15% off if I ordered online, so I couldnt pass it up. I also got a couple other things for him also while the sale was going on.

The Mechanix Wear gloves go on sale on occasion at the bigger auto parts store adn often online.
I picked up 6 new pairs of the std. black Mechanix gloves from my local Sears last year when they put them on closeout for $5 a pair. All that store carries now is the Craftsman brand, but you'll find the Mechanix brand on markdown often at Walmart, Kmart and other stores around Xmas or as the new Mechanix gloves are rotated in.
I find the Craftsman brand a nearly equal product except for small details things like the overly rubbery finger tips and oddly placed reinforcement seams.
For backup pairs of the Craftsman gloves, XMas is a good time to buy as they tend to be on sale regularly after Thanksgiving due to them being good stocking stuffers.

When Sears first started carry the mechanics gloves, they were made by Mechanix brand. They had their label on the inside. Who makes them now, I don't know, but I don't like them as well.
Who the hell thought the red/black frilly looking gloves with chevrons on the finger tips was a good idea ? Evidently some douchebag that doesn't work on stuff. Make them a solid one color and I'll buy them again.

The finger tips on the Craftsman ones are AWFUL. No dexterity with those.
Just about every pair of gloves I try has thumbs that are too long. Guess I have short thumbs.

Yeah I was happy to see the cheap gloves on sale for 9.99, then I threw a pair on.....thats my biggest gripe with any mechanics glove......engine compartments are tight enough to begin with, I dont need to lose 10mm bolts because I cant feel them thru the gloves.
Fingerless carpenters gloves would probably do me more good in that case.
Havent picked up my Mechanix gloves from Advanced yet, who knows if they'll actually be there when I get there. If I dont like em Ill just resell or return em.
