I must be the only one to prefer something besides Estwing. When I was in the service we had Estwing and Vaughan hammers both were all steel with the rubber handle. When we got in each day we would each grab a hammer out of the box and go to work. I found I liked the way the Vaughan felt at the end of the day it just seemed to be a better hammer over the day of swinging them. I decided to pay attention to how each of them felt and worked through about 5-6 Vaughan hammers and 6-7 Estwings. Now I may have ended up with the same hammer in each brand but tried to mix it up and found less forearm strain at the end of the day when using the Vaughans. I have owned nothing since. Construction being almost identical i can't say why the Vaughan feels better but to me Vaughan will always be the hammer I reach for over Estwing. Vaughan is also built in the USA.
