Opinions on Floor mounted or Concealed ducted mini split

So what's the consensus of these types for cooling in a house? The wall mount just isnt doable so now i'm thinking about a floor mounted model or concealed that i can mount in the basement and run a very short section of duct work into the living room. I know about the low static pressure in the concealed units which is why it'd be mounted from the floor joists in the basement where i'd run a section of duct work right off of that making a 90° turn upward directly into the living space. It's also more convenient to set it up this way for condensate draining, either floor mount or concealed. I'm not a fan of putting this in the attic so a ceiling cassette is out. Any major negatives to the floor mount or concealed units??

Personally I would prefer the low wall unit over the ceiling unit. With the ceiling unit you have to deal with condensate so a pump is typically required while a low wall will be gravity drained.

Als typically ducted is not as efficient

I have used a floor model on one project. Small room with no place for anything else .. needed the conditioned air to go up. In another project one company recommended concealed .... Ended up going with another company using ceiling units for two bedroom on the second floor of a cape.

They use concealed all the time in hotels -- using them more and more in homes. Just have to watch the duct work length/ restrictions. They are labeling these as medium static .. so they should have a bit more power.

The ceiling and concealed usually use wall thermostat as standard .. the floor can be either remote or wall depending on company.

All of these units are getting better all the time ... with some companies the floor model is just a cased concealed unit. I have mostly Mitsubishi systems and the typical wall unit they sell is the most sophisticated -- plus some have an eye -- moving vents ... always sampling the air .. 4 speed blowers. The other styles often have three speed blowers and use the room thermostat to control.

I'm using a ducted mini in a utility room with duct running across the hall to a bath. Came with a built in condensate pump. Works great.
