Opinions on M18 Blower

Hi all,

I want to get an M18 blower, mainly for drying off wet bikes and blowing out the garage. I know they make at least two options. I’m thinking the smaller unit may do the job but I don’t have any experience with electric blowers.

We have 2 and love them. I didn't know they made two sizes so I will have to see which one we have but we run with the 9.0 batteries. For jobs like blowing off wet bikes and blowing out a garage they are great. We keep in our spray foam rig and use them almost every job. Cleaning out crevices while sweeping. Blowing water off of wet roofs. Blowing sawdust and debris out of areas before spraying. It came up a scissor lift last week on a steel building insulation job to clear years of dust off of beams.

If I were to guess I would say the battery runs about 15 minutes or more of constant blowing. If you had a huge property to blow leaves it may not replace a backpack blower, but for ease of use and ability to use indoors and not have to add gas and fire up a gas motor we love them. Will probably buy another and more batteries soon.

Electric is a great choice for anything vehicle related or indoors in a garage. Gas blowers tend to throw oil, some worse than others.

Now you guys can tell your wives that and pick up a new toy. I know at least one of you will do it, lol!

bought mine, in a pinch.
was waiting for a new carb.
gas powered throws more air/velocity than the milwaukee.
if theres 2, im not sure which one i have

I have the small version of the M18 blower. It would be great for blowing off bikes and blowing out the garage. I use mine just about every day.

I have both. The smaller one is better for blowing off bikes because of the smaller tip. It still works from blowing out the garage but I tend to grab the bigger one for that.

Just got mine tonight. The big one (with a 12ah battery, and a chainsaw!).

Pleasantly surprised. Aa others have noted, not an all day blowing wet leaves type of tool, but it'll handle 95% of most people's blowing needs. Garage, driveway, etc.

Also heard the flat nozzles you can get for them on Ebay are game changers ($17). Just ordered one.

Milwaukee doesn't. They are all 3D printed. One the popular sellers has quite a few bad reviews on them saying they're not good quality, too thin, crack easily, etc. Makes em for all the popular brands of blowers. Can find them on ebay & etsy.

I'll be finding out for myself, got a stubby tube & nozzle on order.

There's 3 actually. Fuel model is the large one, gen 1 & gen 2. Then there's the Compact model that came out before the large ones.

I have the small M18 blower. I use it for blowing/sweeping my garage and blowing off my lawn mower when I'm done with the yard and clearing any clippings off my sidewalk and driveway. It works great for my uses. It fits in a small gladiator cabinet under my workbench and all I do is connect the tube with a half twist, throw on a battery if its not already there and I"m in business. Its lighter, handier and faster than starting and warming up my gas powered leaf blower or messing with my air compressor hose. It works great with blowing off pavement and although I have not done it yet I also purchased it to make cleaning my gutters a cinch which I imagine it will do very well.

With that said don't have any illusions it will do much good with blowing leaves on the lawn especially if its damp. It just doesn't move enough volume to scatter quantities of leaves across the lawn into a corner or piles etc. like my Ryobi 2 stroke leaf blower does. I think mine came with three different tips for the end also which I rarely use but it would also come in handy for very quickly inflating things like air mattresses and rafts.

Thanks all. I'm still weighing pros and cons. I think the small blower would fit my needs but from a versatility perspective it seems the big guy will do all the little guy can and some that it can't. Too bad there isn't more of a difference in price. Then frugality would kick in.

The bigger blower has a half speed mode so you can turn it down when needed. You’ll never be able to turn up the smaller blower.

That's what I'm thinking. That plus the aftermarket nozzle might be the way to go.

I have the larger fuel and I use it daily. I have also never seen my wife use a tool so often. She hits the patio and driveway all the time. Even works well on spider webs and stuff sticking to the house. She even named it her "blowey boy" which is a little odd.
