Just wondering..... I'm in the US now, but as a 20 year old first starting in the UK out I bought a Newsome 3/8" socket set, nice Cr-V matte finish, six points from 6mm all the way up to 22mm. Despite collecting many other socket sets along the way, I always go to my Newsome set. I paid about GBP30 for it if I remember correctly.
Anyone have any opinions on quality? How does this set rank against other manufacturers, given that I'm in the "competent home mechanic" category. The set has really held up to quite a beating, more so when I didn't have a lot of the right tools, the only part to fail has been the u-joint. The ratchet itself has been beaten with a hammer on numerous occasions before I realized breaker bars were the way to go. ;-)
I'm actually thinking of getting a similar set, having my Dad buy it and send it over to me.
