They are pretty decent. I've got the combo metric set. I love using them on brake lines where I need to add a union. You dont get a whole lot of tightening torque with the open end though. Once you get it tight it just wants to slip. I always go back over with a regular wrench just to be sure.

Only ~$20, buy them and see how you like them!

depends on the situation. takes a lot of room to swing. as most have said great for brake fittings and such. i have a cheapo set that has no moving parts, i actually like it for certain tasks i do. id like to find a set that had stubby handles that would help sometimes.

Same basic idea has been around for at least 20 years. I got curious about them a few months back and bought sets of the Aulden (spring loaded jaw), and Craftman and Snapon versions. Main issue is the LONG swing angle to make them ratchet, with a hex head its 60 degrees.
