I just placed an order on Amazon for some Vessel jis screwdrivers. They're coming from Japan and won't be here until end of March, but they're worth the wait. I zipped out some T30 fasteners out of a broken step at my friend's house. I reused them because the Torx fasteners I had were half as long as the ones already there.
Torx fasteners are great. Less chances of stripping the head.
OP should grab some Torx drivers too. Some came in a USA Craftsman set I bought 15 years ago. Can use a ratchet and extension, but handled torx drivers (or T handle ones) are nice to have, too.

Agreed, they do not have tip durability compared to other high-end drivers, which is a shame as they have great handles.
My recommendations are always PB Swiss, Vessel, and Witte. There's also Williams and Proto. There are a LOT of screwdriver brands out there, and a lot of threads discussing screwdrivers on this board. I've read nearly all of them!

I got the USA Tekton 16 piece set a while back and have mostly happy, but the Philips have slipped more than I would like on tough screws. They actually failed on an 8-32 I'd put in with loc-tite just a few days previous. I just ordered a couple of the Weras with the lasertip and hex bolsters for those desperate situations. An RTR review on them sold me.

Well, thanks for all the info. I just dropped an order on a complete set of vessel drivers direct from Japan. I went with the vessel as they are jis and I work on 95% Asian cars. They should be here in about 10 days.

Fit wise, Snap On seems to have the edge but they do on occasion fail.
I have a few older Matco sets from the early 90's that have never broken, the older shiny burgundy color four sided handle years. I've also got a few green SK sets that are all original and never had a failure. I don't think any of my Mac or Snap On sets have any original screwdrivers left. The older Matco screwdrivers were bought no later than 1992.
I do have a few really old Snap On square handle screwdrivers that have original blades though but those are 40+ years old now.
I've even got a few old wood handle Blue Point screwdrivers from the 50's that have survived over the years with no chips or broken blades, they were handed down to me and were bought in the late 50's.

I just bought the following set of Vessel screwdrivers which includes two of their "Impacta" models that when hit with a hammer turn the tip 12 degrees counter clockwise I have not had chance to try them out yet as the only arrived today.
They will compliment my other sets of Stahlwille, Williams(Cat branded),Wiha(insulated) Stanley and Cresent(used as prybars, scrapers and opening tins)

These Wera Lasertips are insanely grippy. This screw is hanging there stuck tight on the tip, not magnetic.

I prefer Klien magnetic, but I have a half dozen different brands of screwdrivers and the only purpose bought set I have is the Stanley Fatmax set. However, I was doing HVAC work at the time and the full tang on the drivers made them very reliable when I would beat on them to start holes in metal duct.

That would be my advice as well...
I really like the quality of the Williams tips, their hard handles fit my hand well and they are easy to to clean.
A little off topic but I always keep a few beater screwdrivers around that I can turn into "special purpose" tools with a grinder when necessary.
