I'm new to this forum, but I hope some of you can put some input into helping me choose a new tool box. I'm 19 years old, apprenticing in an auto body shop, and have been buying the most necessary tools whenever I can afford them, which has driven me to outgrow my current tool box (A ~40" 13 drawer Westward).
I was talking to my SO dealer, and he said he could get me a KRA 2418 (Triple bank, 18 drawer, 73" wide) for around $130 a month, with a total cost of ~$5000.
Then today, I recieved the new Mac flyer and saw they had MB 1080 (Triple Bank, 19 drawer, 66.875" wide) on sale, and after talking to the Mac dealer, he said it would be around $4500 for one of those new, so a bit cheaper than the snap on, but a little less space (around 3k cu. in.).
The Mac guy also told me about a brand new factory flawed MB1080 he received in Red w/ Silver Trim, which had a bent drawer, and had a drawer that wouldn't lock unless you opened and closed it after locking the box, which he would give me for $2500, so $2000 cheaper, but flawed.
I plan on having this box for a while, probably until the end of my apprenticeship (2-3 years) I personally prefer the look of the Snap On box, and the Mac's look backwards to me as they have the full narrow bank on the left. Also a majority of my tools are Snap On (I have one 20-piece Mac screwdriver set, that's it), so I would feel kind of out of place with the Mac. But money is more important than comfort. Also, I am not aware of any used boxes, which is why I'm looking at new ones only (which limits me quite a bit).
Basically, I'm indecisive so I'm just looking for some opinions. Thanks
Contenders for new tool box:
KRA2418
MB1080 (If I ordered new)
MB1080 (Flawed) - I believe it is the top left drawer that doesn't lock properly.
Current tool box:
