Opinions on Viper toolboxes

I was in Sears this afternoon and I was looking at all their different grades of tool boxes. They had a new brand, Viper toolboxes. The build quality appears to be better than any of the Craftsman boxes. They have one with pull out pegboards that is intriquing. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm looking for the best I can get in the $1000 range.

For a grand I would look for a good used box, search CL or ebay in your area. You will get twice the box buying used, I would NOT buy a new Craftsman box, even on sale.

looked at what was available on sears.com website, the viper boxes seem a little pricey for (what appears to be) consumer grade storage.
i havent seen the viper boxes in person, so i may be way off

for the $1000 they are asking for the box with the vertical storage panels, you could probably pick up a used truck branded box.

if i was looking for newhome/garage toolboxes, i'd be looking at HF or menards.

just my $0.02

Construction on the Viper boxes is quite a bit better than any of the craftsman stuff. Heavier gauge metal, cast aluminum pull bars, nice ball bearing slides. I actually visited a few more Sears stores and found that they are carrying Montezuma boxes as well. I'm even more impressed with those.

I can't come close to getting a used SO or Mac box for a grand. Everything I see on CL is $2k plus.

I have a low end crafstman box now and a HF or Menards box would be pretty much the same as what I have.

I'm really now leaning towards the Montezuma boxes.
