I sold my old Torin 26" box and now looking for a larger box. I was set on getting a 44" HF bottom but decided to look on CL for other deals. On CL there's a 40" SS Craftsman with DynaGlide and Grip latch for 4 bills. Anyone have experience with this box?

Is it a top/bottom combo for $400 or just the bottom. If it's the combo, I would look at it and maybe make an offer. If it's just the bottom box, I'd put that money towards a HF 44" box.

If it's close and the pics of it look good. Make a phone and talk to the guy, if he sounds ok, go look at it and make an offer.

What's the worst that can happen, other than him being a CL serial killer, you might waste a little time and gas on for a drive to look at it ?

That sounds like a pretty good deal, think I'd jump on it.

4 bills is negotiated price. I'm gonna check it out this weekend, maybe the guy will just give it away cheap...been advertised for a long time. :)

I'm a starting tech and I'm buying mostly matco tools and some snap on but is a craftsman tool box a good starter?

It'll work for now, concentrate on what you're putting in the box, that's what's going to make you the most money. Once you get established and know you're keeping the job, then look for the better box. When you do the box upgrade, bring that Cman to the garage for home work.

EDIT: Josh, I believe I need to correct myself. When I made the reply above, I thought you were the OP getting a great deal on a used box. Now that I see you're not the OP and going to pay full price for a new box ($1400), NO, I wouldn't buy it.

I will stand behind my comment of spending your money on tools, that make you money and a decent box to start with. Once you get established with a good selection of tools and know you'll be staying at the dealership, then upgrade to a better box. For the comparable price and quality, I'd suggest either a HF 44" top/bottom combo, 56" or 72" from the same place. The next best thing would be finding a used SO, MAC or other premium box that fits in your budget.

As long as it isn't damaged, worn out or other major problems that is a good deal.

It's a decent set, not great, it looks way better than it really is.
The stainless is low Chinese quality and thin, I definitely wouldn't overload it.
The GripLatch system *****, I've had to fix them a lot.
I've had mine for 6 years and if I was buying today I've seen the HF ones in person and would go with that instead.

I have this combo box and I am very happy with it. Smooth closing drawers and very heavy built. Lots of storage room. I got it for fathers day. My kids paid a fraction of what they are asking for it. If you are patient and not in a hurry I seen it as low as $999.00 sometimes.

I am a Toolaholic,Sometimes I regret it,Especially when the Toolman wont give me no credit
