Anyone here run the Optima Digital 400 or Digital 1200? I have a red top in the chevelle and a couple times it'd gotten deeply discharged and it was a pain to bring it back. I'm thinking about buying the 1200 but I wanted to see what other people thought.

Ctek chargers all the way. The marketing on the Nocos are better....but personally, I think Ctek is a better rounded product..

Do the Ctek units offer all the features of the Optima as far as ability to charge a deeply discharged battery without needing a second one and the over charge protection?

I don't treat ~smart~ battery chargers as set and forget.
For deep discharged batteries, where you need to outsmart the brain, you can either hook up a additional battery OR put the charger on supply mode, check voltage on battery and once it get's up to X volts, then switch it back to smart charge *automatic* mode.

I like Cteks
Noco would be a 2nd choice, but the Cteks just seem a bit better in overall build

That's the good thing about the optima is it'll automatically adjust for the deeply discharged condition. I'm trying to get away from having to hook up a second battery when mine gets too low. Eventually I'll get a batter tender on it but that'll be when I get it running right.

If you have a AGM style battery......high voltages will kill it.
AFAIK, u need a high AMP charger for a AGM battery ...hence the reason I have the 25 amp Noco in my stash....

Cteks and Noco are great in long term investments as a charging system. Pigtails/leads you just install and hook up to the chargers, etc.

Optima is all marketing IMO...

I have both the 1200 and the 400. The 1200 is a fantastic charger, especially when dealing with a deeply discharged battery. I'm not sure if the 400 can manage a full size auto battery that's deeply discharged. Honestly, I've never even used my 400. I've never had a need for it, as the 1200 will automatically switch to a maintain cycle once the battery is fully charged. One day I'll get around to mounting the 400 somewhere in the garage where I can keep it as a permanent maintainer for the car.

They work great for standard batteries as well, not just Optima gel-cells.
