I have workbenches all over the shop depending on what I would be doing on them. The main ones are 24" though.

Catadj78: I love the color theme. Your talking to a WSU Cougar Alum here and would love to have the crimson and gray them though out.

But I have the feeling your a tides fan...

When a bench is going to be against a wall I always make it 24" so I can utilize a 4x8 sheet the best way possible......2' x 8' x 1.5" thick. I built a "fab table" that has casters on it and it's size is 4' x 4' x 1.5" thick.

Mine also is an L bench, one side 24" deep the other 30". While the 24" side works seems Im always either right to the edge and moving stuff making sure nothing else is setting on it. Regret not making it also 30".

I just built a new bench endnof fall/early winter. I don't remember exactly but I think it's 33 or 34 inches deep. My old one was 23 inches deep and basically always covered in junk and tools. The new one is also but that's is the beauty of the assembly table that is on casters that stows under the actual bench 0f48266b5cb4d8c6594fdc4ee6563fe0.jpg

I am at the 32" depth.
But will you be installing a toolbox underneath? If so the Harbor Freight boxes and most others are in the 18" range where the higher end models are in the 30" range. The higher end models have done lots of homework and found that is an ideal depth for most work surfaces.
I know this is off subject but it is nice to have an overhanging lip to keep drips or what ever from rolling off and into or onto your toolbox, but too much of a lip will effect drawers. An LED strip light can also aid in vision since the over hang can give shadows.
If you go 30" range and use the 18" tool box there will be lots of wasted space behind the box. Some have utilized very well thought.
