Looking at building my garage and getting updated pricing and the Wood truss package is WOW, OMG they claim covid but WOW.

So looking at other options in closing in my building, was thinking maybe metal truss system but my web searching seems to be failing me as finding option in trusses made of metal don't seem to be called metal truss and or I'm missing some details.

So anyone experienced in metal truss and or non wood typical products.

thanks.

I have so many improvements to do on the property but I keep postponing it...Were on a crazy bubble and Im just waiting for it to burst...Just like 13 years ago, and 13 yeard before that , and 13 before that... lol You Know were in a bubble when people buy stupid thing for stupid prices...Sadly the price of essentials like lumber and steel gets inflated too ...I understand you cant wait for closing your building...

So Wood trusses might the the only solution, If you have a bit of time try to call around Truss builders that has some cancelled orders sitting in the yard , that would fit your project without too much modifications.... The silver lining in the story is borrowing money is cheap these days ,Thats why people are currently spending like wacks too...

Steel trusses can last a long time; think of the Eifel Tower. They have never been cheap to buy, but with maintenance they will last seemingly forever.

If you have time, you could always wait for someone to have misordered trusses. I have seen plenty posted by me where some savings can be had.

I think a lot of people bought lumber in a panic last year and just sat on it.

What about DIYing the trusses?
I did that on a small 16x20 shed.

Truss place gave me a print with all the lengths needed.

Do regret not going with a loft or attic type though. Would have allowed for more storage.
