I ordered a bore scope from Amazon today, should have it Saturday. I'm not expecting anything great but will see if I can inspect some drain lines. Anyone have one?

I got a ouwakii(something like that) from Amazon a few weeks ago it was like 50 bucks. I was surprised at the quality for the price as far as picture clarity, it takes video as well and has a removable sd card I used it to find a leaking head gasket, a burnt valve and just played with so far

I bought a Deptstech? one a while back. Actually does really well for as cheap as it was, they make one now with a side view lens that I’m thinking of getting.

I have a "Depstech" (Derptech? Something like that) one that's been pretty handy.

Their phone app is dreadful, but mostly sort of worked. However, I discovered almost by accident that it worked without any added software on my cheapo Chromebook. It has a weird USB plug that works as both mini USB and has a little flippy part that makes it full-size USB.

I just plugged it in on a whim to see what happened, and my Chromebook saw it as another camera. The larger screen makes it a lot handier.

For the miniscule amount of money, it's super-handy.

You can't see sideways unless you have room to bend, and the first inch or so doesn't bend.

So if you stick it into a spark plug hole you can't see much of the cylinder wall and it can't look backwards to see the valves. I've seen mirror attachments that might address that, but I haven't really pursued it.

I keep waiting for a high quality one for under $100 - LMK if you find one.

I recently got one from from Amazon that is just under $100 with the current 30% off promotion. I used it to see how bjorked my engine is to help start ballparking budgets before I decide to dedicate time to it. Instead of using the included 32G sim card to take pictures and plug that into my computer, I decided to take a picture of a screen to show you guys.;)

As you can see, it does pretty much what I would expect. To the right side of the image on the screen, you can see the broken piston. There is fine scoring on the cylinder walls. It's tough to tell if it could be honed out or needs to be bored another .010 over based on what I found.

If you do get this one, the button on the base of the camera cord is how you switch between the forward and side facing cameras. That part wasn't in the instructions and took a few minutes to figure out.

I got a $12 USB one from Amazon a while back. It even has a light. I wanted a borescope so bad when I was tuning two stroke race bikes to look at piston crowns, but they were really expensive then.

I have only used mine once, when I dropped a bolt down inside a PTO wood chipper with a 2' diameter 220lb rotor. It's a lot of disassembly of heavy parts to get to where the bolt went. I taped the scope to one of those flexible parts grabbers with the fingers, and a coat hanger wire that I could bend into the right shape to get around the rotor's fan blades. It took a while but it worked. I recommend having one for tasks like that.
