Ordered my Bendpak HD-9

After much deliberation I finally ordered my HD-9 Bendpak lift from Babco. A thank-you goes out to Bruce @ Babco for answering all of my questions and adding some reassurance on my selection. I went with the RJ45 sliding bridge jack, castors, drip trays, jacking tray and a Ranger Portable oil drain too. I have deferred a number of under car jobs until I get this thing installed. I suspect I will have a few more friends very soon.

You'll love it - especially with the jack! Can't beleive you ordered the FULL-MEAL-DEAL all at once - must have gotten a better deal than me!!!

Thanks guys. I figure with the RJ45 the lift gives me the best of both worlds (storage + ability for easy maintenance). I think you backed me up on this one e-tek.

Bruce, my buddy is still interested in the HD-14 although the length is touch and go for his Dodge 1 ton. He did just shoot his wife down on new kitchen cabinets so I don't like his chances though. Perhaps he can recover.

Matti - Congrats on the new lift!!! I have the exact same set up (although I got mine in pieces) and just wanted to comment on the jacking tray. True, you'll really only need it when you need to bleed brakes and have all four tires off. However, you will notice that it also makes a great tray for holding tools, drain pans, or your hand held shop light. I've also used it to support my push mower and snow blower during oil changes.

True, you'll really only need it when you need to bleed brakes and have all four tires off. I'm trying to figure out the best way to drop the gearbox or the entire power train from my '95 Carrera. It's nice to have choices with floor jacks, jacking trays and bridge jacks. The wide ramp setting might allow me to drop the whole unit out the bottom. I'm still fuzzy on this one.

You should have no problem dropping a 911 engine/******. I've dropped 914 engine/****** assemblies plenty of times, and I even have the engine bar to deal with, and I've yet to even have to remove that.

Set your HD-9 to it's widest setting of 43" apart between the two runways and lower the whole thing down, just a couple of inches up from a furnitre dolly (which will fit perfectly between the ramps), so that you can then loosen your bolts from the engine mount and ****** flanges and let it fall gently onto the furniture dolly. Then lift the 911 and slide everything out the side or to the rear.

By the way, the one ramp that slides over for the wider setting can go wider than 43". 43" just happens to be where there's already some holes drilled out that allow you to bolt the ramp on to the cross members. If need be, go a little wider. The one ramp with the cylinder under it will of course stay bolted down so it's not like your car is going to move if the ramps are 44" or 46" apart. Anyway, post some pics after you get everything set up. You're going to love this lift.
