Ordering doors online - any advice?

I am looking to order two garage doors, 20x8 and 8x8.

I have been struggling to find any local dealers who want to sell/fit a 20ft door despite the manufactures offering that size. The costs also vary significantly (ie. HomeDepot came in around $6k, a CloPlay dealer in Seattle was over 10k for the exact same door).

Does anyone know if it's possible to order a door online without going through a dealer? I'm interested in NW Doors, CloPay or Martin. I've used Hormann when living in Europe, but I couldn't find any local dealers on the west coast.

Posting a location in your profile helps your fellow members give you accurate advice. Another member might be fairly local to you and give a recommendation on a supplier.

Where have you looked, just big box stores ? You need to find a dealer for commercial O/H doors, if they don't have an installer.

Did you try Wayne Dalton? I believe they sell doors online. When I bought mine, my installer directed me to their website.

I just ordered a 9 x 8 online from HD. Special size they dont carry. This was the cheapest place I could find for this particular size. Ordered it last week, said it would be delivered the 2nd week of sept, got a phone call last night its being delivered today! On a related note, I think the prices of steel garage doors have doubled since January.

Ideal doors from Menards are Clopay - identical in every way. Look for the ocassional door sale and/or the 11% off.

20" wide x8" tall ! How often do you see them advertised?

If you're talking about a sectional, keep scanning Craigs for a good used one. I got a 16x7 for $150 from a guy who was demo'ing his rental, and installed it myself.

For roll-ups, I got a better deal in person at the manufacturer's showroom/warehouse than what they advertised online. I went with Janus and am very happy.

20' x 8' doors are small.. you need to find a commercial door installer. My buddies is 30' x 17' its a big OHD.
