I’m just wondering if/when you guys order tools from the tool truck, how long do you guys normally expect to wait before receiving tools? I know theres logistics issues currently and holidays and all. I’m just worried about getting 👻 by the tool truck since it was my first order with this dealer?

Depends, if they know it's a bit out and tell me I'll wait. If they say it's in stock and a month later still nothing I'm canceling it.

The stuff I’ve had to order is usually here within two weeks mainly a week though. I have a coworker who has been waiting almost 4 months for a torque wrench. He ordered it August when he started and still hasn’t gotten it yet. Snap-on keeps telling the dealer oh end of October beginning of October now it’s middle of December they are telling him and my coworker isn’t too happy and expects a very low price torque wrench now.

Depends. Some things are on hyper-infinite back order. Typically, if it's coming from the home base it's a 1 week turn-around. Rarely more than 2. Sometimes it can be weeks if there's a back order or production cycle issues.

Are you at a shop, or just some guy who met up with a truck?

My dealer shows up on Mondays. If I tell him to order something by Wednesday, he typically has it for me Monday. There are a lot of things that have been on back order this year though. I have had 7 things on order that I've been waiting since end of August for. Nothing I need now, all wish list items thankfully.

Most things it’s order this week, have it next, but sometimes things take longer, This week will be week 2 of waiting for my pry bars from snappy, I should have them Friday,
I’m on week 4 of waiting for water pump pliers set from Cornwell because it’s on back order, If Some in the shop needs have something right now, most tool guys will overnight it to our dealership

What color pry barter did you order? My dealer has only been able to get black or orange ones quickly and no other color because they are on back order.

Depends on the tool, the brand, the seller. My Matco guy can get Matco stuff in just a few days. There are several other brands he can get that he can typically have with in a week. But depending on the brand it can be on back order for who knows how long.

The Snap On guy I don’t even deal with anymore. He always acted like ordering something was a pain for him to do. More than once he ordered the wrong thing. But he has to order everything I need cuz all he keeps is basic **** on his truck. Nothing I’ve ordered from my snap on guy in the last two years I’ve got with in a week. Everything has been at least two weeks or sometimes months. Even on warranty stuff. I’m still waiting on a tap from like 4 or 5 months ago.

Met up with the truck. Does this make a difference? I offered to prepay for the items

My point was, if you ordered an item, while already being a shop on the route, potentially with other paying customers within that shop - the odds he was going to just disappear seem quite low.

If you've done business with him before, I would expect him not to disappear. Actually, I would expect a businessman who gave someone his word that he would order something, would do so. But I've only interacted with trucks via a shop.

I ordered the black ones, I wanted the power blue but he can’t order those,
Yeah that’s what I wanted too but it doesn’t even list them anymore for screwdrivers, pliers, pry bars nothing in that color. Oh well at least I got the screwdrivers. I ended up having him order a set of the pearl blue long picks for me since power blue wasn’t available. I would of got the pearl blue pry bars too but I knew if I did I’d be scared to hit them cause they are so nice lol 😂. He didn’t show up this week so hopefully next week he does. I’m going to have him order me a 36 inch pry bar in either orange or black most likely or maybe dark titanium if it’s available or red lol too many colors to choose from.

After my last experience ordering from a local dealer. Just order from Snap-On online, far better experience and items arrive faster.
I’m going to check with my dealer Monday. If it isn’t in (I know that the part is in stock) then I’ll just cancel the order and order directly from Mac tools

I have never had to order anything from the truck dealer might be because I never saw a truck dealer at my employee until I worked tool control when I had a broken wrist. I think that if the dealer does not have the item and it is on backorder I find another the vendor. If I need the tool and that mean I need it the next day and if the dealer does not have it I can hit the jobber or even a tool store.

It varies a lot, Snap On in the UK is trying to move to a model where they don't hold stock and work on a just in time model. Didn't work out so well with covid, shipping issues etc.

If it's something common, like I want a ratchet my guy doesn't hold, it'll be on his next delivery, so I get it within a couple of weeks. If it's something more unusual it's anyone's guess, a month is common, my fj300 took 5 months.
