Ordnance Department padlock, one Corbin key with matching stamped number. As found, it had the split remains of a link of brass chain held by a brass pin through the shackle. This impeded removing rust from the shackle and created a slightly annoying obstruction to general use, so I removed the split link and filed the pin flush with the shackle. It could be punched out and replaced if restoring the chain.

That is quite similar to the one that I'm using to lock up my General Mechanics Tool Set.

Nice locks.

Reminds me of an old brass one that my grandfather gave me, had some sort of U.S. give logo. Wonder what I did with that....

Here's a June 1942 Bonney 585-36 DOE.

I should probably have named this thread "Random Militaria."
Edit - Yes I should have: would have saved me from spelling ORDNANCE wrong.

Yes. I've seen locks with the retaining chain attached to the body like yours, though not Ordnance-stamped. I hadn't seen one where the chain was attached to the shackle, but have to believe it really was factory original.
