I have been a long time reader of this forum and want to say thank you for all the wonderful ideas! This is my first post as I thought some might be interested in the remodel I have just completed of my garage. It is a typical 3 car attached garage, about 840sq. ft. with 12' ceilings and 8' high garage doors.

We purchased the home 10 years ago. It is a nice home but lacking severely with closet space for storage. The first thing we did is purchased 38' of 8' tall cabinetry, a couple drawer banks and workbench area.

The cabinets helped solve some of the storage issues but the garage was boring. I wanted new flooring. I looked at many options and decided to use porcelain tile. I had not tiled before but I figured it was a garage so who would care? After weeks of prepping and leveling the floor I recruited my wife to help me. I had know idea that it would take 3000lb's of tile. But the results were far better than I expected.

I added a tile border around the garage to match with moldings on the top and bottom of the tile border.

My collection of cars has grown and my garage hasn't. Therefore I decided to add a lift. After months of research I decided to go with a Challenger 9000lb lift. They seemed to be overbuilt and did not have any exposed cables. The ceiling was plenty high at 12' but I needed to raise the garage door tracks. The conversion was not that difficult and I added a wall mounted liftmaster 8500.

Rather than run extention cords everywhere I needed to add an outlet for the new lift master 8500. Also, while running wiring I decided that the new lift would be more efficient with 220v. So I began punching holes in the attic to find out the easiest route. What I discovered was a large empty space that could be utilized for more storage. After patching the holes I made in the ceiling I cut and framed an opening above where my new lift would go so I could easily hoist items into the attic.

After adding a floor in the attic and some lighting I decided to add a few more holes in the sheetrock. To keep the floor shiny I tend to mop it quite frequently. The upkeep is very easy but I tend to be a neat freak. So I decided to tap into my hot water heater and add a faucet for my buckets. Both for mop buckets and for detailing my cars. While I was doing a little plumbing I ran copper piping to the front of the garage so I could wash my cars with hot water.

Very nice 996! It almost looks like a toy in that big *** garage. HAHA
Were those some fender flares on a Cayenne?

What else do you have in your collection?

Now that I had punched and repaired holes all over my garage it was time for a new paint job. Funny how one project leads to another. I got permission from the Mrs. to go RED!

After a coat of grey primer on the upper portion of the garage a coat of red was applied. Oops wrong color. Too dark and to flat. Uggg.

I finally found the right color red but because it was lighter and eggshell finish it took three more coats to make it even. But worth it!

I painted the ceiling black to keep the red and black theme going. While up there I replaced the lights with T8 high bay lighting. Wow what a difference, super bright!

Next I decided that the interior of the garage door could use some TLC and a fresh coat of paint.

The hot water heater exhaust pipe was built at an angle blocking a wall that I would like to use for a piece of art so that had to be moved also. You can see from the patched area where the exhaust stack was moved from.

Below the tile border I decided to go with diamond plating. It was a challenge learning how to work with but turned out great.

Now what to do with the ugly fridge and freezer cluttering the garage. Also I had a door going outside that I primed and tried to decide a paint scheme. I was tired of painting so I decided to wrap everything. It was actually easy to do.

First the door. Here is before and after:

I like that so much that I did the hot water heater. I turned it into an antique gas pump.

My freezer next became a Snap-On tool chest. I even found a used Snap-On tool chest handle I added to the side.

One of my favorite hobbies is detailing my cars. But I don't like digging everthing out of cabinets to get the item I need. I put a sheet of magnetic metal under the diamond plating and found that magnets would work through the diamond plating. I found magnetic pieces that are typically used on the side of tool chest work great at holding my stuff and keeping it looking organized.

Can you give some specifics on the tile used for the floor and also a source for the graphics you used on the "appliances".

The floor has been in for about 8 years now and holds up like a champ. I used commercial grade 2' x 2' porcelain tile. I ordered them out of Florida. There is a huge variety of graphics at RM Wraps. They are based out of Idaho but great to work with and suprizingly easy to do yourself.

I'd love to have a garage that neat and organized but alas, there would be oil spots and broken tiles all over before long.

Hows the lift been treating you ?? I've been looking at both Challenger and BendPak lifts and don't know anyone with a Challenger where I am ....
