OSB Ceiling installation

I'm going to be installing 7/16" OSB in my shop for my ceiling. My trusses are on 4' centers.

1. Do I need to install what I call sleepers between the trusses every 2' or will the OSB not sag on 4' centers? I will be adding blown in insulation later, that is the only weight that will be on the OSB.

2. Do I need a vapor barrier before I install the OSB?

Thanks

It'll sag on 48" OC, I'd about guarantee. 24" OC is the max rating for 7/16". It's stamped right on the material.

Can't answer the other - vapor barriers are climate dependent. We don't use them down here in a shop/garage.

Yes and the sleepers need to be able to take the span and added weight. As mentioned previously the vapor barrier could be area dependent. Ask your insulation installer.

Why OSB instead of drywall? Price is about the same....but drywall will not burn....and reflects light better.

Either way, you will need the support (sleepers)
