I am putting foam between my girders and wanted to cover the walls. Would the OSB give any problems as they are about 3 feet apart?

I did not want the OSB to bow between the girders. Mainly just want something to cover the foam.

depending on the weather you may get bowing or sagging, over time. I have used a nailer below the OSB, resting the OSB on that and then nailing well. It will likely **** out and **** back as well..

Depends on the thickness. 7/16 is going to sag. 19/32 or 5/8 is span rated 40/20 so it would span 40" in a low load situation with ALL edges supported.

I don't think you'll see much issue on the walls. If you are concerned, I would use 1/2" rather than 7/16".

What thickness were you planning on using on the walls ?

I was considering the 1/2” as it is only $.30 more than the 7/16. I see some 3/4 tongue and groove but about $6 more per sheet. I thought about the clips in between sheets to keep the even but thought that would be a hassle painting.

I just caught this. Is this a typo ? Do you want it to bow ? :headscrat

FWIW, at 30 cents more a sheet for 1/2" over the 7/16", I'd be going for the thicker sheets hands down.

Run your scraps through a table saw and cut them to about 3 or 4 inches wide. At the unsupported edges, use short drywall screws to attach them to the back of the seams to provide support and keep the edges even. Put the first sheet on the wall, screw the strips to the back with half the width exposed, and then put the next sheet on and attach its edge. Even it if bows a little, it will look good if all the edges are aligned.

Problem is the foam board is flush with the 2x6’s so there is no empty space. I had actually thought about this or the plywood clips but thought they might look tacky and be hard to paint the osb with them.

Considering just going with a tongue groove sheet, probably will only add about $120 to the project.
