Prices on building materials fluctuate a lot. It runs in cycles. Since it high now, you can expect it to go down in a few months or a year. The smart thing is to delay your project a little until the price is better. I waited a year to finish the interior of my garage because OSB was too expensive at the time. Waiting paid off. I got 1/2" for around $4 a sheet, and 7/16" would have been even a little cheaper.
When it gets cheap again, buy what you need even if you don't have time to install it right away.

Yep, that's what I am doing. At these prices, the pole barn ceiling (inside) can wait.

Did a roof project last summer - bought about 45 sheets of 1/2 OSB for $6.** per sheet - didn't use all of it, so I took about 1/2 of it back - bought another place a couple months later, and now I've decided to do the roof on the other place - going to do the roof in June, no postponing it - last price of 1/2 OSB I saw locally was about 15.97 / sheet - this one's gonna bite!

Was at HomeDepot yesterday and they had 7/16 OSB for $12.47 and 1/2" OSB for $14.47, so maybe this is a sign prices will drop down to a more reasonable price since the initial construction season surge is probably over. Prices at Lowes were still $15.47 for 1/2" OSB.

Lucky, are you in the Midwest?

I'm not sure if being in the Midwest helps. I am working on a "lean to", picked up some 2x12x16's, they were 21.** a piece. I picked up angle mounting brackets and they were 3.** a piece. So I have about a 1/3 of my roof joists up and $300 invested in brackets and boards.

All to keep my wood dry and not bringing bugs into my old barn.
