Do you think osb pricing might come down? Here in Michigan OSB has skyrocketed since I last checked it out in like feb of 2012. I have heard with the demand of it more mills may open up and prices will fall but I tend to think it will keep going up. Any thoughts?

I find Spring is the cheapest time to buy...By hurricane season its too late. I got lucky...quoted my building out in April, checked & locked the price when I pulled the trigger in June. By the time they delivered sheets in mid July, I was already lucky It went the way it did.

Pricing for all building materials is all over the map, and highly influenced by local / regional supply and demand....Production costs are also increasing. I would not count on any downtrend over time in price per sheet.

7/16 OSB has gone from $6 or $7 a sheet to $11 in a couple of months. I expect it to come down a bit. But I am not delaying any of my projects in hopes that the price will go down.

Yea....it took a big jump......thank goodness I'm pretty much done with all of my framing.....

I was paying about $10 for a 4x10 sheet....a couple of months ago it was up to $17/sheet.

7/16" 4x8 sheets run $18-20 in the Seattle area. And we aren't running short of forests or supply. It's just the price going up because it can.

At the time I was insulating my garage (July), OSB was $8 a sheet for 7/16. A week later I went to buy and it went to $12.

Last time I looked it was about $13.50 a sheet at the local HD.

Its more than doubled here in the last year, I sheeted my first shed for less than $7 a sheet, two weeks ago I had to pay more than $13 for the same thing.

I was told by a guy at the lumber yard it will go down in the spring, unfortunately I'm trying to get all the holes filled before winter, I can't wait till spring.

I had to rebuild the back storage section of my shop this past summer due to extensive rot from leaky roofing. The exterior is metal but I was able to skin the interior with left over 1" Styrofoam sheets and OSB I purchased from local Home Depot's dunnage bin. I paid $7.00 to finish three walls of the 45' X 9' space! These weren't exactly 4X8 sheets but they worked for me and it beat paying $13.50 a sheet.

Patience is the solution. Regular price here today is around $12 a sheet, but if you watch the sales, it wll likely go on sale for a cheaper price sometime in the next few weeks. A good sale will knock off $3-4 a sheet, and that makes it worth waiting and keeping your eyes open.

Home Depot has a dunnage bin? Oh really? I wonder what they did with the cutoffs or damaged sheets. I'd be willing to buy up some of the damaged stuff to use the intact parts. Hmm, time to check it out.

Around here it is usually toward the back of the store by there radial arm saw. Sometimes they also have a cart out by their concrete with torn bags for cheap. I recently bought 23 slightly to severely ripped bags of 80# redi-mix for $7.00! Cool part is that I went there just to buy some redi-mix.

What's Home Depot? They tried to run a store here but went out of business in a few years. They just couldn't compete with Menards.

Lumber prices are based on a commodity pricing kinda like oil. When I worked at the lumberyard years ago, the boss would change the price on lumber every weekend. He would tell the contractors that the price was going up before he raised it. We sold alot on Saturday and Sunday with delivery scheduled for Monday. I remember about 20 years ago, OSB was going for $4.44 for 7/16". We were selling 5 semi loads a week!
