just wanted to share an experience with a new gadget called the iroomba - it sells for about $200 at Costco and Sams - i think it is great - is a robotic disc that moves around the space on its own - when it bumps something it goes the other way - and it is ideal for garages because it relies much less on suction than sweeping (turning brushes) - it compensates for its low power by going over and over the space - it works off of a rechargeable battery (should last an hour or so (at least new)) - i turn it on while i work - and at the end, there is a lot less sawdust on the floor or a lot less metal shavigs, solder drippings odd fallen nail or screw (becareful if it is a resto piece!) - it then has a small detachable rear portion that serves as its bucket and you empty that every so often (so no bag to deal with) - its logic cool, it can follow a line, go along a wall - and it has moon buggy rear tires and so can clear obstacles pretty well - it comes with a battery powered post that when it gets near (like placed in an garage door opening) it goes the other way - this feature does not work so well - one amazing example of the logic is that i have a work area that is a 6x10 concrete pad that is raised up about a step - i put it up there and it went to the edge on multiple occassions, wheeled about and never fell off - pretty cool! - thanks, ed
