Here's how I deal with a tight joint, run the press down with an impact, smack the forcing screw with a sledge, & tighten it some more.

What he said. If you don't do it this way you're going to break a lot of tools.

If it were OURS you could send us a PM and even on a weekend track-side at Le Mans I'm browsing these forums and will get a replacement started :p

This is why I buy Astro products instead of OTC when I have a choice. Some things like the hub grappler are not available anywhere else so I have plenty of OTC but when I can I now prefer Astro. High quality stuff with no hassle warranty and reasonable prices gives me confidence in my purchase.

I shouldn't have to kiss a dealer's @ss to get something warrantied. I understand the potential for abuse but that should be handled on a case by case basis. The default customer service response should be to err in the customer's favor.

This is also why half of my hardline tools are now Tekton. I don't have to fight them when I have an issue. With my Gearwrench stuff it can be hit or miss.

I do this mostly for fun not a living. If wrenching is your primary source of income perhaps it makes since to pay double or triple on a truck to have weekly warranty opportunities. However there are plenty of horror stories about a new dealer taking over a route and not being helpful for stuff the old guy sold.
