I just saw the CA7149. Appears to be newly released? It holds various cups in a ball joint press like the BJP1. Best pricing I found during a cursory search was JB Tools at ~$477. That's still way better than retail on a BJP1

I tried searching for "CA7149" on this forum with zero results.

Secondly, is this an AP? I doubt OTC would let AP manufacture for them? Or would they? A couple years ago AP kept stringing us along with promises of something just like this, then chickened out and said (on this very board) it "stepped on too many toes in the industry" and their product would only be sold in certain countries (not here).

So, what's up AP? If this is yours, could you say? Better question: if it's NOT, why can OTC now pull it off and you couldn't????

Think this was speculated on in the Astro Pneumatic Tool Company thread back in January, though there was no official response towards it.

Haha, no we don't make stuff for Bosch. That's their own design.
If by chickened out you mean we were going to be swamped in legal action and figured it wasn't worth it - then yeah, call that my bad. We showed it at SEMA and that was the end of that. It's how it goes sometimes.

Soooo....OTC is just willing to deal with the legal action, or they're more chummy with Snappy, or something else?

If this stands does it not set precedent for you to release yours in the US??

I could be wrong here, but pretty sure this is the Astro design.....TOTALLY different animal. Guessing they cannot sell it IF they make it for other companies.
That's SP tools.
Our was different. It was apparently too similar to what a couple of designs from a couple different sources had, and we would have spent as much $ defending it as producing it.
Bosch has their own design and different new patent.
There's loads of stuff to navigate in this arena, and they dont all make it super public. So can be a mine field.

Nah, that one had been out for awhile before AP was talking about anything (publicly)

I think it's interesting but seems less versatile....maybe I'm wrong as I've never touched one

In any case, thread resolved AFAIC. I'm glad OTC did this because competition is good for us and while the BJP1 is certainly great it's expensive and arguably cost prohibitive for many. I finally purchased myself a BJP1 after lusting for one for 20 years, literally.

The OTC is still not inexpensive but sub-$500 is still more attainable than $760 retail for the BJP1.

You cant just compare prices, how many different vehicles does each one do? The bjp1 claims to do a majority of vehicles. The otc has less adapters it looks like so I would assume the otc cant do as many vehicles. But have no experience with it so have no clue.
