I find it hard to believe that Amazon made an error with this item. This company tracks everything in real time. I often get different prices by clearing browser cookies and logging on from a second IP address.I don't think much gets by them.

I think Amazon found the error. Bundle is up to 211.52 For those that had 1-2 month shipping times, I am curious if Amazon honors the price or cancels the orders.

They did similar with mine. Went from taking 1-2 months to shipping two days later. Interestingly the fedex tracking wasnt the normal "shipped by amazon" but rather some weird company i hadnt heard of

What's the company? It's possible they're having the stuff drop-shipped.

I don't think they did, either. The updated bundle "deal" price is the same as buying the two items individually. I think they were just done with the deal, and just didn't delete the bundle.

Got my ball joint clamp set today. It says “Made in USA” on the cardboard box, the plastic case and on the clamp. Nice!

I’m also really impressed with the machining on the clamp screw.

Amazon finally shows my Ball Joint Set preparing for shipment as of this afternoon.

OTC features the Ball Joint Set in their new magazine and shows a closeup photo of the "Made In USA" marking on the C-Press. Clearly, they recognize the value of keeping it made here.

This is good practice to do especially on travel sites they try to make it look like the price will go up a little bit when you go back to the site. And on some sites if you use an Apple product you will pay more.

Because amazon shipped and billed the sets separately, I was able to contact customer service and return the front end puller set, and keep the C Clamp press at the 56 or so dollar price. My garage is not large enough, and will never be for Taiwanese and Chinese tools.

Did you have to pay return shipping (or restocking or something) on the front end puller set?

Amazon supplied me with a free shipper when I requested to return it and stated I expected it to be USA made like the C Clamp but it was not.

A general question for everyone, especially 2slow:

How did you originally find this great deal or similar ones? Did you just stumble across it or did you use a specific search method on amazon to actively look for these types of deals?

Mostly luck for me.

I had been looking for a front end puller set after breaking a cheap puller removing a pitman arm. I did some research and the otc set seemed like the right price to quality ratio for me. I added it to camelcamelcamel and asked for an alert if it went under 100 dollars. I got an alert they day before posting, and was going to buy the front end puller for 95 when I saw the make it a bundle link that added the press for 12 dollars more. I had a harbor freight on car press, but figured it was worth 12 bucks to throw it in.

I asked my brother if he wanted to buy a set too, or if he wanted my harbor freight press for free. He went with the free option, and then I posted here. The deal lasted longer than I expected before amazon corrected.

Anytime I've found a deal it was pure chance. The Aircat impact was the most recent example.

The front end pullers are not made in the USA. I was expecting both kits to be made in Taiwan, but was pleasantly surprised to see the ball joint kit was USA made.

Thanks 2slow for the mention of camelcamelcamel. I had never heard of that before. After your post, I looked at it and spent a couple hours working on it with all the tools that I would like to buy if I found them at the right price. I did find that the GW 3680 Serpentine Belt kit has dropped a lot since I last looked at it.

That set is being replaced by the 8900 I believe. The only difference I can see is the ratcheting wrench has been replaced with a flex head version. So now is the time to watch the old one I think.

The 89000 is going for about $40 more right now for just the single flex head wrench. Wow!

I just opened my Front End Service Kit -- it arrived last week but I was out of town. The COO isn't printed anywhere, but it definitely looks like mainland China, not Taiwan. As someone else mentioned, the numbers printed on the various items do NOT match the OTC numbers printed inside the case. Moreover, some of them are in a sans-serif helvetica-type font, while others are in the narrow, serifed font that is so popular with stuff from China.

I can take some pics if anyone wants them.

COO is printed on the cardboard sleeve.
