OTC/Mac Mentor and Compact flash cards

Hello once again...
Some may remember a thread I posted a little while back regarding the purchase of a mac mentor. I have got the tool and I spent some time taking it apart to see how the memory on the inside worked. I found something quite exciting, or at least I think it may be exciting.

Inside the mac mentor there is a removable compact flash card. The card that came with this mac mentor is only 128meg. I removed this card and found the machine does not boot properly. Thus I am wondering if it would be possible to remove this card, buy a larger card, and have a larger internal memory (copying this card, or someone elses internal CF card). The only problem I see with this is the boot command is on the internal card - what I was thinking would be to copy a friends internal compact flash card (if that is how the new Genisys' are put together)...

Does any one know if this is possible? May be slightly frowned upon, kinda like using 1 windows CD for multiple computers like I'm sure most people have done at one time or another.

Any thoughts>? I have read that people believe these CF cards are formatted to OTC's specific format, but I've also read that this is a myth to prevent people from doing exactly what I want to try.

Any info is appreciated. I've pretty much exhausted google.
cheers!

Did you get any farther in replacing your memory card.

I have a Mentor that is old, but works just fine.

It's running pathfinder 99 with a 32MB internal card.
