OTC Slide Hammer

Good morning. Interested in getting the OTC Silver ******* slide hammer (1179), as I used to have one and was happy with it. Disadvantage of it versus the stinger series (4579) is that the case costs extra and is significantly bigger than the stinger series case.

Aside from the stinger series including a front hub adapter, and the 5lb hammer itself being clearly different, the replacement parts lists for both sets are nearly identical from what I can see.

Can anyone confirm from their experience that the adapters, pullers, t handle, etc ., from the stinger set are all the same as those in the silver ******* set (again aside from the hammer itself)?

Appreciate the input.

Can’t answer but I’ve had the OTC 4579 in my cart now for some weeks. Will be watching to learn more.

Can vouch for the OTC, go and buy it. Can also vouch that their Stinger line is bottom-of-the-line tools. If it's a one time use tool the Stinger might be ok but personally I would never buy anything from that line.

I can't comment on the adapters as I've only used the ones that came with it, however, I own the OTC Silver ******* slide hammer and I'm very happy with it. I've had it for several years now.

The OTC 4579 has been a great slide hammer for me. Used it on ATVs, UTVs, Jeeps, trucks, etc.

While I avoided this one due to the COO, I can say that one of my good friends bought one off of the tool truck and he's had no issues using it in a professional setting on a regular basis for the last several years. So I'm not sure I agree with post earlier in this thread saying it's a one time use item.

However, I paid extra mostly for the piece of mind on the Silver ******* model and I have no complaints.

I have a ~10 yr old 4579. It's marked as "stinger" and made in Taiwan. I've had no issues with it as a home user. Not sure what else you can buy that's better, besides Snap On at probably 8X the cost. I'm skeptical the 1179 is any better quality as 95% of OTC has been Taiwan for many years.
