Anyone have experience with OTC products?

Namely the 4581 kit (slide hammer and collets)???

If not the OTC setup, does anyone have a blind hole bearing pull kit recommendation under $200?

I can't imagine the OTC kit having any issues at all. The brand is reputable, they make good stuff.

I have the HF kit that I picked up uber-cheap - apparently it was on sale and I got 20% or 25% off with coupon, because I know I didn't pay anywhere near $75 for it:

http://www.harborfreight.com/blind-hole-bearing-puller-95987.html

It's worked fantastically the 6-7 times I've used it.

I can't speak to daily long-term use, of course. I see the OTC kit is $112.79 at Amazon. If I were going out to buy today, and I couldn't get the HF kit for significantly cheaper, I'd spend the extra bucks on the OTC kit.

Exactly what I was hoping to hear, thanks for the guidance!

ive been using OTC pullers & bearing splitters for over 25 years, and have never broken anything without really trying.

In my 20 years time turning wrenches I've always found OTC products to be professional quality at reasonable prices. I wouldn't hesitate to buy their products. If there was a HF product for $50 and the OTC version was $100 I would definitely buy the OTC WAY better quality than HF.

Again, thanks everybody for the shared wisdom.

I had no experience with OTC stuff, as I always got by with a homemade slide hammer and no-name collets.

The OTC set will be what I order.

Thanks again!

Caution new foreign made OTC is only warranted for one or two years. Just last week I called OTC to warranty an OTC stinger serpentine belt tool set. The first thing the phone operator asked was how long ago I purchased the tool? There was a discrepancy in warranty years, one year in the first database she looked up then on another screen it said two years warranty period. So she courtesy said she would honor the 2 years time.

Sad to say OTC has changed from the All USA made Silver ******* slide hammer sets and the floor jacks both lifetime warranty

This ^^^

The OTC 4581 is from the "Stinger" line, and is an Asian (Taiwan, I think) import. It's not the same quality as OTC's older USA-made products by any stretch of the imagination, but it's still better than Harbor Freight.

OTC has been importing stuff for quite a while now - the "Stinger" line has been import for at least 10 years, if not far longer.

Still quality stuff.

OTC hasn't had USA products in years, although the new owners, Bosch, has apparently brought some things back. Regardless of COO its still a high quality name and priced fair to boot. Their hub removal kits are awesome.
