No pictures, sorry... when I need to remove the hard tonneau cover from the back of my F250, I put the 4 post up above the bed, ratchet strap from the lift under the tonneau and then use the lift to pick it up off the truck. Later I can just back the truck under the lift, lower the cover back down, bolt up the clamps and it's good to go.

Proof of concept- harbor freight ramps across arms allow driving lawn mower onto arms. Now that I know it works I'll tie the ramps together, reinforce them with angle iron and and make a solid base to anchor ramps to the arms.

I was just thinking about this yesterday as I was cutting grass with my Husty zero turn. I need to do some maintenance on it and it's a PIA to get under.

I like your idea, I'll have to rig up something similiar.

There are kits to use to lift lawn equiptment

I'm amazed at the different ways to pick up a mower. I never saw this thread before. Mine way is pretty crude by comparison. I never thought about turning the mower sideways. That's clever.

I built a platform to help offload stuff from the pickup. Now back in the day I would have attempted bear hugging this compressor and lowering it, lol. Grown up me, no chance.

Adjustable height work platform

The real danger of doing this for me is once I have a flat, horizontal surface to work on I have a hard time clearing it off, I tend to just keep piling on

This is the reason I have a forklift.

I use mine to store my utility trailer on, remove the hard top on my CJ7 (video below), I have used to remove equipment from a trailer, built a temporary spray booth with it, used as a stand up bench base, and as a drying rack for doors.

I used to use it to work on my dad's commercial mowers. Makes it WAY easier. I never used any special platforms or adapters, I'd just put the front two arms on the corners of the deck, and the rear two either under the back of the frame where the battery goes (walk behind), or under the back U frame on a zero turn. I never did find a good way to lift the standers though.

Use it to lift trailers up so I am more comfortable when I repack bearings or run new wiring.

Use it to lift heavy things out of truck beds: Snowplows, pallets of things, etc.

I dream of the day when I can have my own garage with my own 2 post!

EDIT:
Just seen the pic of it being used a a table. I've swapped many old door guts over to new doors using this method. This works great too!

Good idea, did you have to raise the arms off the floor to kept them from moving before pulling the mower on?.

Glad you got a kick out of it, but it wasn't meant to be funny. As a senior citizen I avoid anything that requires me to get down on the ground if at all possible and I found this to be a really easy way to access the drain plug.

Some would call it lazy, I prefer to think of it as working smarter.

you have my vote!!!

Used mine to unload and load a 120 gallon three phase compressor with a huge dual piston pump. Very, very heavy. Had hooks on the top of it so I tied a chain around the arms and hooked it and picked it up like it was nothing.

having just installed a Atlast Platinum PV12 wide and tall lift I will say your idea is one that popped into my head also but as soon as I was done installing i noticed the problem lol
almost any lift won't go high enough to allow this to work , max height on mine is like
70" to pad mounts and the use of lift adapters won't really apply since you need your platform to be at ground level to load it.

most "tall" lifts really only refer to the cross bar height and has nothing to do with the lift arm height ,, I think bendpak has a 10k that does like 78" to pad mount and that's still not enough for most lofts

*I found it!*

A while back I saw a video with an artist who converted an auto shop (maybe old gas station) to a studio for his work. Best part was was the in-ground single post lift with a 4x8' 1" thick steel plate attached. Very heavy duty, adjustable work bench. Can't find the video now...of course!

Same idea, but much more temporary:

Nothing fancy...Ibuilt a 2'x8' and 4' x 8' 3/4" plywood "tables" to attach to the arms to use for many different things...whatever you can think of. At the moment I have a frame I'm building for a kayak/canoe trailer on the big table so I don't need to weld on my knees anymore. When done with the welding I'll attach the springs and axle, put on tires and wheels and roll it off the lowered lift arms never hand lifting more than pieces/parts during the build. Just upgraded the carb on my DRZ 400SM to a Honda 650 ATV carb. runs like a scalded cat now. Snow go oil changes coming up...much easier at head height than laying on the floor. Even used big table to train a new shop puppy to jump up on the table and load into the truck bed.

I have forks for my tractor and use them to get heavy stuff to the lift to work on them.

Lakeroadster, do you have more photos/detail of your John Deere lifting set up? I have a 318 hat I'd like to be able to lift like that.

Sorry for the loooong delay. The black tubing is actually the front caster extension for my engine hoist. I modified it to bolt through the holes on the flip up arms of the Rotary Lift

I made. this tractor lift about a decade ago. All it really does is position the arms under the wheels.

Here is an odd one where I had to fix the wheels on my old BBQ grill.
