Hello from NW Ohio.

Four brothers got together to build a post frame building, so it's not exactly a garage by definition, but definitely not a barn. Its a 72x36 and 12 high. I'll tell you right now I wish we would have made it wider, at least 42' but its plenty long.

I'll make the first post simple.

The lot- 7.2 acres

The size- 72x36x12

The heat- quietside instant water heater/ boiler and 6 loop radiant floor

The floor- 5 inches of concrete, 7in under the posts for lift

The nerds- I'm lecturing

There is still a lot of work to finish the shop, ceiling, wall covering, misc trim, so I will be updating this as it shapes up.
Feel free to ask any questions in order to better educate yourselves, or pass some advice my way.

Besides playing basketball, what are the plans for the structure? By the way, that 2x4 will make three point shooting quite challenging. :)

How are you supposed to get a ball in that net when the clearance over head is so small.

I don't see how you could do it.

For now there are no definite plans on what to use the building for other than personal use and storage. We all work on our own cars and equipment so it will never sit dormant.
The way its looking is that one of us will end up using the whole shop for a business and the others will build their own or whatever they choose.
We are splitting the cost of the building by four, so everyone has equal say in it right now.

The hoop is perfect for playing around but you're all correct, the 2x6 gets in the way of highly arched shots. My plan is to pour a 40x60 slab outside to use for basketball, tennis, street hockey, four square, etc etc etc, and also a spot for volleyball with real sand mmmmmm.

Here is a crude floor plan of what I'm thinking of doing, but probably more like 80x40.
