Our Heater n Key shop started today

OK, been posting and asking and getting great advice. Putting it all together we have started with all the best info.
My sons 16 & 17 , me 53 wife 49, one acre high n dry, power water septic on board.
Today finished the holes for our poles, leveled ground, set up properties for setting poles, have wood under 100 dollar carport, waiting for next full day of sun and time off.
last few weeks got: 60 dollar cement mixer, used but super nice, extra 30 Gal Compressor ( free) Tiller 4 hp, (also free) 16 ft ladder, also free, framing gun new from friend 50 bucks, Air drill 45 bucks new from friend. super price on wood for phase 1, 700 bucks. Now I can posty here with something to see.

Looks like you are on a roll. Hope the kids can keep up with dad (LOL). What part of Florida? Can't figgure out what the "heater and key" thing is all about. But in a lot of ways I am not that smart.

Great start and good job for kids. Every kid needs a post hole digger. I would thing you would use one a little larger though so you have room for adjustment and room for concrete. DO NOT put concrete in the bottom of the hole though. Fill back with stone.

Hi Kevin
our plan is to lay some stone down into the hole and back fill with some quickcrete and the soil we dug out. Some have suggested a base of crete for the poles to rest on but like I said we have so far decided against that.

Why do you say that. Always good to hear others reasons.

This whole thing is a lot of work. Mainly why we got the land vs something already built. Great fun working with my kids. Good guys they are.

The reasons not to set the end of the posts in concrete is so they don't hold water around themlike putting a stick in a glass of water. Also make sure that everything that is in contact with the posts lets moisture leave the holes.
